Why dual-length irons?
In short, the answer is no. Why? A player with a slower swing speed may have trouble elevating their “long” irons (the 3I, 4I, and 5I) in a single-length set. If they do not have the swing speed necessary to achieve adequate launch, it can cost the player distance when using their “long” irons. The solution? Pinhawk Vertex Dual Length irons.
With one length for the 3, 4, and 5 irons and a second length for the 6 iron through the sand wedge, Vertex Dual Length irons are the best of both worlds. Two lengths, two swings – with the added bonus of zero distance loss in the “long” irons. Compare that with learning up to ten different swing paths with a traditional iron set, and you’ll see that the consistency gained from a dual-length set is well worth it!

Versatile
game-changers
Pinhawk Vertex Dual Length Irons feature the very latest in iron technology. For example, the 3 iron and 6 iron have an ultra thin, high-strength cup face to increase ball speed and maximize distance. The weight saved by the thinner face is positioned to allow for an optimal launch angle.
This hollow-bodied design provides unparalleled forgiveness and distance. The 3 and 6 are the irons in their respective length group that needed “extra” launch and distance to achieve proper gapping, as they are the lowest lofted clubs in their length group. The lower the loft, the higher the difficulty to launch the ball correctly, and the unique design of these two heads make up the difference needed.

How can we help you?
Frequently asked questions
Are they USGA legal?
Yes. They are listed as irons conforming to USGA standards on the USGA Informational Club Database. They are listed under Pinhawk, right after Ping.
What handicaps are they good for?
All handicaps. We’ve had success with these irons from hackers all the way to club champions. They help with consistency, and any golfer can use that.
What are the standard lenghts of the long irons and the short irons?
The 3I, 4I, and 5I are cut to 38″ (the length of a 5I in a standard set). The 6I through the sand wedge are cut to 36.5″ (the length of an 8I in a standard set). We have found these lengths to be the ideal “sweet spot” for the majority of players.
Can dual-lenght irons be cut to accommodate my height?
If you are exceptionally tall or short, our standard lengths may not be for you. We are able to vary the lengths up to ½” either way. In exceptional cases, you can email us for recommendations for much longer or shorter sets and we will tell you if it’s possible.
I don't use irons much below a 6 iron. Can I just order the "short" set?
Yes. The “short” set (6, 7, 8, 9, PW, AW, SW) is a no-brainer for any golfer who wants more consistency in his or her game. We honestly think, however, that you will love the entire set.
Why are the 3 iron and the 6 iron different from the rest of the set, and why do they cost more?
The 3 iron and 6 iron use new technology. First, they have an ultra thin, high strength cup face to help increase ball speed and maximize distance. The weight saved by the thinner face is positioned to allow for an optimal launch angle. This hollow-bodied design provides unparalleled forgiveness and distance.
Additionally, the technology used in the lower lofted club in each of the two Vertex lengths (the 3 iron being the lowest lofted club of the long irons, and the 6 iron being the lowest lofted club of the short irons) is necessary for correct distance gapping across the entire set.
Are they available for left-handed golfers?
We don’t have plans to produce left-handed irons at this time, but if popularity eventually necessitates it, we will consider it.
What kind of steel are the heads made of?
They have a 431 Stainless Steel Body and Hi-Cor 17-4 Stainless Steel faces.
Can't I just buy a traditional set of iron heads and make a set like this?
No single-length or dual-length set of irons can be made from traditional iron heads. A traditional set of iron heads has a different weight for every head. If you were to try and build a set of single length or dual length with heads of varying weight, not only would your swing weights vary wildly, but the flex of each club would also be different throughout the entire set.
Can the lie be adjusted?
Yes. We can bend them upright or flat at a maximum of two degrees.
What are the recommended tip trimming and club lenghts for building Vertex irons?
If you are building according to a tip trim chart, tip the 3, 4 and 5 irons to a typical 5 iron tip trim. Tip trim the 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, AW, SW irons to a typical 8 iron tip trim.
The recommended standard length of the 3, 4 and 5 irons is 38″ and the recommended standard length of the 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, AW, SW irons is 36 ½”.
